Commandaria Vintage 2018
Commandaria 2018 is a multiple award-winning dessert wine and one of the most historic wines of Cyprus, representing a winemaking tradition that dates back thousands of years. Produced exclusively within the Commandaria region, this wine is protected under PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) regulations, making it one of the most distinctive and authentic expressions of Cypriot wine heritage.
Commandaria is traditionally produced from sun-dried grapes, allowing the fruit to naturally concentrate its sugars and aromas before fermentation. By regulation, the wine must be aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years.
What makes this particular vintage truly exceptional is its extended maturation process. The wine was aged for five years in premium new French oak barrels, where it developed remarkable depth, structure, and complex nutty and gently spiced aromas. It was then further matured for three additional years in cool, dark cellars, sealed with natural cork, allowing the wine to evolve slowly and enhance its velvety texture and aromatic complexity.
The result is a luxuriously textured, syrupy dessert wine with an elegant aromatic profile of hazelnut, toffee, salted caramel, sun-dried fruits, clove, and cinnamon. Subtle notes reminiscent of carrot cake and crème brûlée add further richness and character, while the wine remains beautifully balanced with a smooth structure and a long, indulgent finish.
A refined and authentic expression of Cyprus’ legendary dessert wine tradition.
